There really isn’t anything sweeter than bringing a little bundle of joy into the world. And let’s be honest, a French-country inspired picnic, complete with a vintage pram (of course!), is just the ticket when it comes to celebrating new life. Designed and styled by the talented Anne Robert & Something Vintage Rentals, this baby shower is pretty much as good as it gets. The gallery is just filled with so much sweetness, it could almost bring tears to your eyes.
From Dawn at Something Vintage Rentals… We styled a French-country themed baby shower brunch in Washington, D.C. for the adorable French-American parents-to-be Sandra and Jean-Paul. The couple didn’t know the gender of the little one, so for color and theme, we played off an orange bird found in the baby’s nursery.
We held the brunch in a rustic garden near the couples’ house, and took advantage of the natural elements on site, creating a brunch buffet out of wood pallets and using old garden fencing to hang a lace ribbon curtain made out of vintage tablecloths. We wanted to incorporate chicken wire (who doesn’t?!), so we used it to create plate chargers, photo frame backdrops, and as accents in the invitation. At the last minute, we were thrilled to find an oversized antique bird cage to house the gifts, and a vintage French baby carriage for a prop!
Our favorite detail? The little birds we created from the pages of old French novels. We used a large bird punch to create them and mounted the birds to chicken wire frames. We then used them to label plants in the garden.
The delicious French pastries and baked goods were provided Le Caprice DC, which is located in the couples’ neighborhood in Columbia Heights.
It was a real pleasure to help Sandra and Jean-Paul celebrate the impending arrival of their little one Noah, who was born just two weeks later! Didn’t Sandra look amazing for being just shy of 9 months?! Congrats to Sandra and Jean-Paul!
